What colleges and majors does University of Hail offer?

UOH spreads 52 bachelor's programmes over 13 colleges². The largest is the College of Arts with 10, and the smallest is the College of Sharia and Law with 1.

What are the admission requirements at University of Hail?

The University of Hail is a public university in the city of Hail, offering 52 bachelor programmes in 13 colleges, from medicine, dentistry and pharmacy to engineering, computing, business, arts and education, plus an applied college for diplomas. Admission is once a year through the Qabool platform, applicants are ranked by school average, Qudrat and Tahsili, and the university publishes no fixed weighted cut-off because it moves with the seats in each major. Here are all the majors by college, the admission rules as the university writes them, and details for the programmes it describes clearly.

UOH publishes the following admission rules², which we carry over as the official page states them:

• Applications are fully online through the Qabool platform, and you do not need to visit the campus after entering your details.
• Admission is once a year, not each semester, and opens before the new academic year on the published calendar.
• There are three admission criteria: your secondary school average, the General Aptitude Test (Qudrat) and the Achievement Test (Tahsili).
• Priority goes by the equivalent or composite score, provided no more than five years have passed since you finished secondary school.
• There is no fixed weighted cut-off: the university sets it for each major by vacant seats and capacity.
• Applying early gives no priority; the first day counts the same as the last within the window.
• You can change your choices only during the application period, not after the portal closes.
• If you are enrolled at a university or the technical college, you cannot apply until you withdraw.
• If you applied last year and were not admitted, you submit a new application.
• The University of Hail has no external (intisab) study.
• In the health and engineering tracks you are allocated to a major after finishing the preparatory year.
• Study takes four to five years depending on the major, plus an internship year in health programmes.
• To graduate from a diploma or bachelor you need a cumulative GPA of at least 1 out of 4.
• Internal transfers between colleges and departments happen on dates set in the academic calendar.

What do you study in each UOH programme?

From each programme page on the UOH site we carried over the description, the length, the way it is taught and the careers the university lists:

Medicine and Surgery: The medical school was set up with King Abdulaziz University and the University of Rouen in France, and teaches an integrated curriculum in units: you finish and are assessed on one unit before starting the next. The programme holds international accreditation from the British body ASIC and national accreditation from NCAAA, and clinical training runs with the Ministry of Health.³

Dental Medicine and Surgery: You complete 196 credit hours over 12 semesters: two in the health sciences preparatory year and ten in the dental college, then a compulsory rotating internship year, six months in the college clinics and six in dental hospitals in the Kingdom. To be allocated to dentistry you need at least 3.5 out of 4 in the preparatory year with no failed or dropped course, and the highest GPAs are admitted until seats fill.⁴

Doctor of Pharmacy: The programme lasts six years, starting with the preparatory year of biology, chemistry, physics, statistics and English, then pharmaceutical and clinical courses, ending with an internship year. It holds the German accreditation for health programmes and prepares graduates for hospitals, specialist clinics and drug companies and factories.⁵

Nursing Sciences: The nursing college was set up to train Saudi nurses for the health sector, and holds international accreditation from the German body AHPGS and academic accreditation from NCAAA. It also offers a bachelor in midwifery.⁶

Clinical Nutrition: Clinical nutrition is accredited by NCAAA, and is one of five departments in the applied medical sciences college alongside radiology, physical therapy, laboratories and speech and hearing.⁷

Medical Laboratories: The clinical laboratories programme is also accredited by NCAAA, and diploma holders can join it through the bridging programme.⁷

Diagnostic Radiology: The college announced that the diagnostic radiology bachelor gained academic accreditation; it is offered to men and women.⁷

Electrical Engineering: The oldest department in the engineering college, it started with the university on a curriculum drawn from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and is accredited by the American body ABET. You study power, electronics, control, communications and networks, alongside maths, physics and English.⁸

Computer Science: The college says its departments offer seven bachelor programmes: computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information security, artificial intelligence, data science and network engineering. AI does not yet appear in the bachelor list on the programmes page, so check it on the admission platform.⁹

Accounting: Every bachelor in the business college, including accounting, finance, marketing, management information systems and management, holds programme accreditation from the national centre.¹⁰

Sharia: The programme requires a secondary certificate or equivalent from inside or outside the Kingdom, a pass rate the university sets each year, and an interview if the college asks for one. It began for men and later opened to women. Graduates qualify for the judiciary, fatwa, public prosecution, law practice, notaries and school teaching.¹¹

Which diplomas does the University of Hail applied college offer?

If your score does not reach the bachelor you want, the applied college offers 18 shorter diplomas closer to the job market. In business: advertising and marketing communication, warehouse and supply chain management, management information systems, sales management, accounting, human resources and executive secretarial work.¹²

In technology: information technology, programming and computer science, technical support, control and automation engineering technology, and graphic design and digital media. In health: dental assistant, emergency medical technician and medical secretarial work. There are also agricultural engineering, environmental protection technology and social work.¹²

Does the University of Hail offer bridging or transfers from another university?

Yes. Health diploma holders have bridging programmes in nursing, in health administration and health informatics at the public health college, and in medical laboratories, physical therapy, radiology and nutrition at the applied medical sciences college.¹³

To transfer in from another university, watch the calendar for the intake window, bring an official transcript, detailed course descriptions, your secondary certificate and ID, and fill in the transfer form. If you were away four semesters or fewer you ask your college to re-enrol you; beyond that you apply again as a new student under that year's rules.¹³

If you are aiming for medicine, dentistry or pharmacy, the preparatory year is the real test: allocation goes by GPA, and dentistry alone needs 3.5 out of 4 with no failed course. Order your choices on Qabool before it closes, as there are no changes after.
