How the index is worked out
The catalogue contains 78 deals from 44 brands. Percentage statistics use 70 deals with a measurable positive saving. This is a sample of tiswa's catalogue, not a survey of the whole Saudi market or a measure of actual student spending.
- Source: tiswa's catalogue, every live deal for university students in Saudi Arabia, with the student price and the regular price as each brand publishes them on its official pages.
- Saving per deal = (regular price - student price) / regular price. A free deal counts as 100%; a deal stated as a percentage (such as 15% off) counts at that percentage.
- The median and average use deals with a known positive saving. Deals whose saving cannot be calculated are excluded from the denominator. The median is less sensitive to outliers than the average, but can change when the sample changes.
- Every deal has equal weight; brands with more listed deals contribute more observations. General promotions and online offers are not necessarily exclusive to students. Each retailer determines eligibility and terms.
- Percentages only, never riyal totals. The figures update on their own whenever the catalogue changes.
