What are the admission requirements at University of Jeddah?
The University of Jeddah is a public university with 54 bachelor programmes in 13 colleges, from medicine, engineering and computer science to Sharia, law, and design and arts, with two College of Business branches in Khulais and Al-Kamil. You apply through Qabool only, and the weighted score is 40% Qudrat, 30% secondary grade and 30% Tahsili. Here are the majors by college, which are open to men and women, and the admission rules as the university writes them.
UJ publishes the following admission rules2, which we carry over as the official page states them:
- You apply for a University of Jeddah bachelor online through the national unified admission platform (Qabool), the official channel for applying to public universities, where you rank your choices and follow the matching result.
- There is no separate University of Jeddah admission portal: every diploma and bachelor programme is applied for through the unified admission platform only.
- The weighted score for both the scientific and humanities tracks is split across the secondary grade, Qudrat and Tahsili: 40% Qudrat, 30% secondary grade and 30% Tahsili.
- Scientific-track majors are open to graduates of the general track, the computer science and engineering track and the health and life track, or their equivalent.
- Humanities-track majors are open to graduates of the business administration track and the Sharia track, or their equivalent.
- Admission at the University of Jeddah is once a year, so there is no mid-year intake.
- If you do not confirm your choice when results are announced, your admission is cancelled automatically.
- If your file was withdrawn by mistake, go to your college and ask for re-enrolment within a year of the withdrawal at most.
- Dates and conditions for transferring into the University of Jeddah from another university are announced each year on the admission deanship website and its X account.
- The University of Jeddah has no paid diploma.

Accounting: Accounting is one of seven departments in the College of Business: marketing, management information systems, business administration, human resource management, accounting, finance and economics, and supply chain management. The college announces that its programmes in all its branches hold academic accreditation, and its mission is to prepare national talent that is strong both academically and professionally in business fields.3

Industrial and Systems Engineering: The College of Engineering began as a north Jeddah branch of King Abdulaziz University's engineering college and then became an independent college. It now has departments of mechanical, electrical and computer, industrial, chemical and materials, and civil engineering, and architecture. Its goals include training programmes that put students in front of real industrial problems, and partnerships with local factories and global companies. Industrial and systems engineering is open to both male and female students.4

How does the University of Jeddah calculate the weighted score?
The University of Jeddah gives Qudrat the biggest weight: 40% of the weighted score, then 30% for the secondary grade and 30% for Tahsili. The same formula applies to the scientific and humanities tracks.2
In practice, raising Qudrat by five points lifts your weighted score by two, while five points in the secondary grade or Tahsili lift it by one and a half. If you have time to resit one test before applying, Qudrat is usually the better use of it.2
What are the admission stages at the University of Jeddah on Qabool?
Admission runs in four stages on the unified admission portal. First, adding choices: you look through the majors and rank your choices with no commitment. Second, showing available places: matching starts and results update continuously by choice order and competition for seats, based on the minimum weighted scores.2
Third, results and confirmation, the stage that decides it: if you do not confirm your major, your admission is cancelled automatically. Fourth, extra chances: if a seat opens in a higher choice than the one you got, you may move into it automatically by your earlier ranking, so rank your choices by what you actually want, not by what is easiest to get.2
Which University of Jeddah majors are for women only, and which for men only?
Most majors are open to both men and women. The university table, however, lists these for women only: nursing, statistics, geographic information systems, all four majors of the College of Designs and Arts (interior design, fashion design, graphic design, and drawing and fine arts), archaeology and tourism, and Arabic language.2
For men only, in the College of Engineering: electrical and electronic, chemical, civil and environmental, and mechanical and materials engineering. Industrial and systems engineering is the only engineering major open to women.2
What can a humanities-track student study at the University of Jeddah?
A graduate of the business administration or Sharia track is admitted directly to Sharia, law, Quran exegesis and Quran recitations; digital media, psychology and archaeology and tourism (women); translation, English, Chinese and Arabic (women); sport management and sport coaching; human resource management at the College of Business and its Al-Kamil and Khulais branches; and drawing and fine arts (women).2
Medicine, engineering, computing, science and the other business majors are for the scientific track only.2
What are the University of Jeddah branches in Khulais and Al-Kamil?
The College of Business has two branches outside Jeddah. The Khulais college offers health services and hospital management, management information systems and human resource management; the Al-Kamil college offers management information systems and human resource management. If you live near Khulais or Al-Kamil, these branches save you the daily trip to Jeddah, and the degree is from the University of Jeddah itself.2
How do the stipend and the excellence reward work at the University of Jeddah?
The stipend stops if you are late registering your timetable, until you register it. It also stops during a semester you withdraw from and is not made up, while a deferred semester is made up with an extra one. So if you need a break, deferring protects your stipend better than withdrawing.5
The FAQ says the excellence reward is for eligible female bachelor students, is paid automatically with no application, does not count the summer semester, and is paid only within the regular stipend period, even if you earn the excellence certificate after it.5
Before you apply, raise your Qudrat score if you can, since it carries the most weight at the University of Jeddah, check that your secondary track fits the major, and confirm your choice as soon as results come out so your admission is not cancelled.
