What are the admission requirements at King Khalid University?
King Khalid University is a public university in the Asir region with more than sixty regular bachelor programmes across twenty-one colleges in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Muhayil Asir and Rijal Almaa. It publishes an admission guide for Saudi applicants each year; here we bring together what its text pages publish: the programmes, their hours and teaching language, and the rules and fees for international admission.
KKU publishes the following admission rules3, which we carry over as the official page states them:
- International students apply through the Study in Saudi platform and complete the forms there.
- A resident who studied the Saudi curriculum needs the secondary certificate, Qudrat and Tahsili, must pass a personal interview and be medically fit.
- Colleges that teach in English ask for IELTS 5 or its equivalent.
- Your Qudrat and Tahsili scores must still be valid, or you need their equivalents.
- A resident needs a valid residence permit and must not hold a work permit.
- You must be 25 or younger.
- You must not be enrolled at another university, in the Kingdom or abroad.
- You must not have been dismissed from any university for disciplinary reasons.
- Your weighted score must be above the admission score the university announces.
- A graduate of the American system can instead present 1000/1600 on SAT I or 22/36 on ACT.
- Your details must match across passport, residence card and certificate, from your name in both languages to your date of birth.
- Admission never entitles you to a university-sponsored residence permit.

How much do international students pay at King Khalid University?
International admission is paid and charged per credit hour before VAT: SAR 950 in the humanities and business, SAR 1,350 in engineering, architecture, computing and science, SAR 1,500 in tourism and hospitality, SAR 1,550 in nursing, pharmacy and applied medical sciences, SAR 1,950 in medicine and dentistry, and SAR 900 in the applied colleges.3
With 18 hours in the admission semester, a medicine or dentistry student pays SAR 35,100 a semester, an engineering or computing student SAR 24,300 and a business student SAR 17,100, plus 15% VAT. Colleges that reassess students after the first year charge SAR 50,000 for that year, SAR 25,000 a semester. Health colleges add the internship year at about SAR 4,000 a month, and there are no exemptions or discounts.3
Can you get your fees back if you withdraw from King Khalid University?
Withdraw before the end of week two of your first semester and you get 90% back; from week three to the end of week eight you get half; after week eight nothing is returned. Deferring or dropping out mid-semester, or a disciplinary dismissal, ends any refund right.3
Where are the King Khalid University colleges?
Most King Khalid University colleges are in Abha, but nursing runs at three colleges in Abha, Khamis Mushait and Muhayil Asir, applied medical sciences is spread over the same three cities with different majors, and the College of Culture and Arts is in Rijal Almaa. If you live in Khamis Mushait or Muhayil, your major may be close to home.2
Before applying, open your major on the Deanship of Admission and Registration site and check the teaching language and campus, which differ between Abha, Khamis Mushait and Muhayil even for the same major.
How much is the King Khalid University stipend?
KKU pays a monthly stipend that depends on the type of major21: SR 1,000 a month (monthly stipend, scientific majors), SR 850 a month (monthly stipend, humanities majors, regular study only), SR 900 a month (monthly stipend, graduate students, regular study only) and SR 900 a year (books and references allowance, graduate students).

Which fee mistakes do students make at King Khalid University?
- Missing this rule: The stipend needs regular study, a bank account on file, a cumulative GPA of at least 2 and no exceeding of the programme's regular duration, which equals the number of semesters in the study plan; SAR 10 a month goes to the student fund.21
- Missing this rule: Nothing is paid to a student who apologised (from the apology date, and that semester counts), deferred (not paid and not counted, compensated at the end), got an academic warning for a GPA under 2, has no timetable, is a government employee, a graduate or on an internal scholarship; external-scholarship and applied-college students are paid, except fee-paying applied programmes.21
- Missing this rule: The excellence reward is SAR 1,000 a year, at most once an academic year, for two consecutive regular semesters at a semester GPA of 4.50 or more; summer does not count.21
- Missing this rule: A student visiting another university is paid retroactively after bringing a certified transcript; the IBAN is added once at the start of a semester from Academia, then My Services, then the IBAN update request, and it must be linked to the student's civil record.21
