Two numbers decide most Aramco internship applications: a GPA of 2.00 out of 4 for technical majors and 2.50 for everyone else.1 Then comes a rule many students miss. Your own university has to require practical training before graduation, for at least 8 weeks. If your study plan has no training term, the university programme is not your route at all.
What internship programmes does Aramco offer students?
Aramco splits its student placements for Saudi applicants into two tracks.2 The University Internship Program (UIP) is for university students in the Kingdom and abroad. The Vocational College Internship Program covers technical and industrial colleges, has its own page, and gives priority to the highest GPAs.3 This page is about the UIP.
| University Internship Program | Vocational College Internship | |
|---|---|---|
| Who | University students in and outside the Kingdom | Technical and industrial college students |
| Minimum GPA | 2.00 technical, 2.50 nontechnical, out of 4 | Same thresholds, highest GPAs first |
| Shortest training | 8 weeks | 8 weeks |

Who is eligible for the Aramco internship?
Aramco lists five conditions and considers applications against the places available:1
- Your university requires practical training before graduation.
- You have not graduated.
- You are not enrolled in any university classes or modules while you train, so no summer course on the side.
- The training your university requires lasts at least 8 weeks.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4 for technical majors, or 2.50 out of 4 (or equivalent) for nontechnical majors.
Treat the GPA as a floor. Places are limited, and a 3.6 student is competing for the same seat as a 2.1 student.
What documents do I need?
| Document | What it must show |
|---|---|
| Saudi National ID copy | Valid and legible |
| Most recent official transcript | Issued by the university, listing every completed course, your name, major and latest cumulative GPA |
| Letter from your university | Recent, stating the purpose of the training, the start date and a duration of at least 8 weeks |
The letter is the usual hold-up.1 Ask your college's training unit for it weeks before registration opens, and check the start date on it against what you will type in the form.
How do I apply for the Aramco internship?
- Ask your college about the training term
Confirm that your plan requires training and how long it must be.
- Scan the documents as PDFs
National ID, transcript and the university letter.
- Register from the programme page
The UIP page on aramco.com links to registration on the jobs site, jobs.aramco.com.1
- Track your candidate profile
From the profile page on the same jobs site.
- Watch the closing date
The page posts it for each cycle and warns that dates change, so check it weekly during the season.

Does an Aramco internship lead to a job?
No. Aramco states that trainees get no preference for direct employment with the company, and that a cooperative training certificate gives no advantage when you apply.1 Trainees are also not registered with GOSI, because the placement is a fixed-term training period that completes a university requirement.
So the value is what you learn and what your supervisor says about you. You will lean on both later, when you apply to graduate development programs or ask that supervisor for a recommendation letter.
What mistakes get an internship application rejected?
- A university letter that says 6 weeks when the minimum is 8.
- Registering for a summer course that overlaps the training.
- Uploading an unofficial or out-of-date transcript without your latest GPA.
- Withdrawing after you sign. Once you sign and start, you cannot come back; if you never signed, you can reapply while you still meet the conditions.1
- Leaving registration to closing day.
How should I prepare before registration opens?
Start a full term ahead. The transcript Aramco wants is your latest official one, so every point you add in the last term shows up; the plan is in how to raise your GPA. Write a one-page CV in English that leads with projects from your major. Then practise behavioural questions with the method in job interview in English, and set up your profile using LinkedIn in Arabic and English.
Nontechnical majors such as accounting, HR or marketing face the higher floor of 2.50, not 2.00, so work out your expected GPA after next term before you plan around it.
What happens after nomination?
Nominated students sign the internship agreement, then attend orientation before the programme starts on the dates Aramco announces.1 Signing is a real commitment. The programme expects you to finish the full period, and quitting after you start closes the door to a new application, so do not sign with a trip, a pending course or another offer still open.
Once training and clearance are done, the certificate goes to the personal email in your application.1 Use an address you will keep, not a university account that closes after graduation.
How do I get the most from 8 weeks?
- On day one, ask your supervisor which task they want to see finished at the end.
- Follow field safety rules to the letter.
- Ask for half an hour with someone in another department and learn how their team works.
- In the last week, present what you did in five slides even if nobody asked; how to build them is in presentation tips.
Is the Aramco internship only for Saudis?
The university programme sits on Aramco's pages for Saudi applicants, and the first document it asks for is a Saudi National ID copy.2 Students in the United States deal with Aramco Americas, whose rules differ; its co-op, for example, asks for a GPA of 3.0 or above.6 Read the page for your own programme and do not borrow conditions from another.
What if Aramco does not accept me?
You have official alternatives. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development requires companies with more than 50 employees to offer cooperative training to students,4 and the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf) runs its own cooperative training support.5 The details are in cooperative training and Hadaf programs for students.
