What are the admission requirements at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals?
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran admits through separate tracks, mainly the basic track with a weighted score from Qudrat and its own achievement test, and an SAT track. This page follows what its official admissions portal publishes.
KFUPM publishes the following admission rules3, which we carry over as the official page states them:
- Basic track: a secondary graduate of the pathways system (general, computer science and engineering, health and life) or of an international school (natural sciences), in the admission year or the two years before.
- Minimum English: 65 on STEP or an equivalent (4.5 IELTS, 80 Duolingo).
- The applicant must sit the university's own achievement test through Qiyas.
- The weighted score for competing is 50% Qudrat and 50% the university's own achievement test, and it sets the priority in choosing a major.
- A recommendation letter and a short statement of your academic goals go with the application, and an interview may be held.
- A student who previously studied at KFUPM or its community college is not admitted.
- SAT track: a minimum of 1350+ on the SAT and a pass in the university's own maths test.
- Meeting the SAT minimum does not guarantee admission: seats are limited and admission is competitive.
The university opens each track in a fixed registration window and closes it, and publishes an admission guide that is renewed every year. Check the admissions portal before applying.
