What are the admission requirements at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University?

Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University is a public university in Riyadh; admission to its bachelor programmes runs through the national unified admission platform. This page carries over the admission guide its Deanship of Admission and Registration publishes: the conditions, the weighted-score weights and the majors open across twelve colleges, from Sharia and media to medicine, engineering and computer science, plus the Applied College diplomas.

IMSIU publishes the following admission rules3, which we carry over as the official page states them:

  • The applicant holds the general secondary certificate or its equivalent, from inside or outside the Kingdom.
  • The applicant passes any test or personal interview the University Council sets.
  • An applicant to the Colleges of Medicine and Nursing must be a secondary-school graduate of the current year.
  • The applicant is not currently enrolled at the university, and at least four semesters have passed since any withdrawal or interruption.
  • Admission to the College of Medicine is to the foundation year; after passing it the student is assigned to the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery under the college council's rules.
  • Admission to the College of Engineering is to the common year; the student is then assigned to electrical, civil, mechanical, chemical, industrial or architectural engineering.
  • Admission to the College of Languages and Translation requires a score of 60 or higher on the English proficiency test or an equivalent.
  • Tracks that qualify for the health and applied majors: the general track, health and life, computer science and engineering, and the business track for the College of Business and the Applied College diplomas, or the natural-sciences track of the old system.

How is the weighted admission score calculated at Imam University?

The weighted score is the same for the theoretical and applied colleges: 30% for the secondary certificate, 30% for Qudrat and 40% for Tahsili. The theoretical majors are the Colleges of Sharia, Arabic Language, Fundamentals of Religion and Da'wah, Social Sciences, Languages and Translation, and Media and Communication; the applied ones are Computer and Information Sciences, Business, Science and Engineering.4

The College of Medicine applies the same weights but requires at least 90 on each of the three; the personal interview decides admission to medicine and nursing.4

Which Imam University majors are open to women, and which open in the second semester?

Most theoretical majors and most business and science majors are open to men and women in both semesters. The exceptions the guide lists: history and civilisation, geography, and cinema and theatre are for men only, and the six engineering departments admit men in the first semester only.2

Medicine, nursing, computer science, actuarial mathematics, environmental sciences and chemical laboratories admit in the first semester only, men and women alike.2

How do I apply to Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University?

You apply through the national unified admission platform in its announced window: read the programmes and conditions, enter as many choices as you can in careful order and save them, and after applications close the university ranks applicants competitively by weighted score, order of choices and available seats. The application date carries no priority, and medicine and nursing applicants watch for their interview dates.5

If your goal is medicine at Imam University, the bar is 90 on the secondary certificate, Qudrat and Tahsili together, then the interview; if it is engineering, admission is in the first semester only, with the department assigned after the common year. For everything else, Tahsili alone is 40% of your score.
