The Islamic University of Madinah is a public university with 21 bachelor programmes in 10 colleges, from Sharia, the Holy Quran and Hadith to engineering, science and computing. You apply through Qabool; the weighted score is 50% secondary grade and 50% Qudrat in the theoretical colleges, and 30%, 30% and 40% Tahsili in the scientific colleges. Here are the majors by college, the admission rules as the university writes them, and the hours of the main programmes.
Islamic University of Madinah publishes the following admission rules3, which we carry over as the official page states them:
- You apply to the Islamic University through the national unified admission platform (Qabool), not through a portal of its own.
- This route is for Saudi nationals, the son or daughter of a Saudi mother, and the mother of a Saudi citizen.
- No more than five years may have passed since you got your secondary certificate or its equivalent.
- The theoretical track asks for the Qudrat test only; the scientific track asks for both Qudrat and Tahsili, with score validity set by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission.
- The weighted score in the theoretical colleges is 50% secondary grade and 50% Qudrat; in the scientific colleges it is 30% secondary grade, 30% Qudrat and 40% Tahsili.
- If you withdraw, you cannot apply again with a new number and record until two years after the withdrawal.
- You cannot be enrolled or admitted at another university, or already hold a bachelor degree.
- If you work for a government or private employer you need their approval to study, or your enrolment is cancelled later.
- A student dismissed from another university for disciplinary reasons is not accepted.
- The College of the Holy Quran requires you to have memorised the whole Quran and to pass the set test.
- You must be medically fit and pledge to respect the university's rules and regulations.

Careers the university lists: Software development, Information security, Data analysis.
Financial and Actuarial Mathematics: Financial and actuarial mathematics is a new programme in the mathematics department of the College of Science. It teaches financial risk analysis with mathematics and statistics, tools such as Python and R, uses AI and big-data analysis in financial models, and prepares you for international professional certificates.7

How long is study at the Islamic University, and which programmes take women?
The theoretical-track programmes, science and computing take four years; engineering takes five. The university table lists Sharia for male and female students, and the Holy Quran and engineering for male students only.2
How does the Islamic University calculate the weighted score?
If you apply to a theoretical college such as Sharia, law or media, half your score comes from the secondary grade and half from Qudrat. If you apply to a scientific college such as engineering, science or computing, Tahsili carries 40% of the score, more than the secondary grade or Qudrat on its own.3
Does the Islamic University teach Sharia by distance learning?
Yes. The College of Sharia offers a Sharia bachelor by distance learning as a regular programme. Your secondary certificate must come from a government school or one the university recognises, and you must pass any test or interview the department sets.8
What does an international student need for a scholarship place?
A non-Saudi resident needs a valid residence permit and the sponsor's approval. A scholarship student from outside the Kingdom needs a criminal record certificate from their country, a recommendation letter, certified documents and no other scholarship in the Kingdom, with age limits the university sets.9
Pick your track before you apply: the theoretical colleges rest on the secondary grade and Qudrat, while Tahsili carries the biggest weight in the scientific ones. If the College of the Holy Quran is your goal, the memorisation test is the step that decides it.
