How the conversion works
- 5 to 4: on the grade table, every grade's points out of 4 are its points out of 5 minus 1 (A+ 5 and 4, A 4.75 and 3.75, B+ 4.50 and 3.50). So a GPA out of 4 is the GPA out of 5 minus 1.
- 4 to 5: the other way, plus 1.
- 100 to points: every mark falls in a grade. 95 to 100 is A+, 90 to 94 is A, 85 to 89 is B+, and so on.
- 5 or 4 to a percentage: the simple way is GPA ÷ top of the scale × 100, and the tool also shows the grade and its marks out of 100.
| Mark out of 100 | Grade | Points out of 5 | Points out of 4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 95-100 | A+ | 5.00 | 4.00 |
| 90-94 | A | 4.75 | 3.75 |
| 85-89 | B+ | 4.50 | 3.50 |
| 80-84 | B | 4.00 | 3.00 |
| 75-79 | C+ | 3.50 | 2.50 |
| 70-74 | C | 3.00 | 2.00 |
| 65-69 | D+ | 2.50 | 1.50 |
| 60-64 | D | 2.00 | 1.00 |
| 0-59 | F | 1.00 | 0.00 |
Whoever asks for your GPA (a scholarship, an employer, a graduate school) sets the conversion method. For an official equivalence, ask your university's Deanship of Admission and Registration.
