What are the admission requirements at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University?

Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University is a public university in Dammam; admission to its bachelor programmes runs only through the national unified admission platform. This page carries over the admission conditions its admission portal publishes: the general rules, the weighted-score formula, and the extra requirements for the health programmes, the College of Sharia and Law and the education track.

IAU publishes the following admission rules2, which we carry over as the official page states them:

  • The applicant is Saudi, or non-Saudi with a Saudi mother.
  • The applicant holds the Saudi general secondary certificate or its equivalent from within five years of graduation; for the health programmes, from the current or the previous year only.
  • The applicant has scores in both the General Aptitude Test and the Achievement Test from the National Center for Assessment.
  • The applicant has no current or previous record at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University.
  • The applicant is not enrolled or admitted at another Saudi university.
  • Admission to the health programmes requires passing the occupational fitness check at the university's Family and Community Medicine Center.
  • A personal interview is required for the College of Sharia and Law, the College of Education track and the kindergarten track in Jubail.

How is the weighted admission score calculated at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University?

One formula for every programme: 30% of the secondary-school GPA, 30% of the Qudrat score and 40% of the Tahsili score. Admission is a ranking of applicants by weighted score until the available seats are filled, so a Tahsili point weighs more than a secondary-school point.3

The admission portal publishes a calculator: enter your percentage and two scores and it returns the weighted score at once, so run it before ordering your choices.3

What comes on top of the general rules for the health programmes and the College of Sharia and Law?

The health programmes (medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, public health and applied medical sciences) take secondary-school graduates of the current or previous year only, and require passing the occupational fitness check at the university's Family and Community Medicine Center.2

The College of Sharia and Law, the College of Education track and the kindergarten track in Jubail require passing a personal interview after the weighted-score ranking. Applications for all of it go through the national unified admission platform only.2

In short: the national platform is the only door, Tahsili is 40% of your score, and if a health programme is the goal your certificate must be from the current or previous year, with the fitness check in hand.

How much is the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University stipend?

IAU pays a monthly stipend that depends on the type of major4: SR 1,000 a month (monthly stipend, scientific departments) and SR 850 a month (monthly stipend, theoretical departments).

The stipend compared across eight universities, with pay day and the IBAN steps, is in the student stipend guide.
