By the tiswa editorial team, from the official sources listed at the end of this guide. How we write our guides
You leave your afternoon lecture in Jeddah, the Corniche is calling, and your wallet says no. Most students know that feeling when the season starts. Visit Saudi1 describes it as live music, beach fun, family adventures and culture on the Red Sea coast, and that all sounds great. But tickets and meals inside the busy zones eat a stipend faster than you expect. This page gathers tiswa's guides to the season and to Jeddah: what to choose, how to book, how to get there and what to pay.
One event, not five
The programme changes every edition, so do not plan around last year's list. Open the official page and see what is on now. Then split the events in two: those that need a ticket and those that are open to everyone. From the ticketed group, choose one that you actually care about, and spend the rest of the season in the open spaces. Pick the concert if the artist matters to you. Pick the family experiences if your parents or little brother are coming. Go back to the open spaces if money is tight. Details are in the Jeddah Season guide.
Jeddah covers you without a ticket
Historic Jeddah (Al Balad) is on the UNESCO World Heritage List2, and walking its lanes costs nothing. Go in the late afternoon, once the heat eases, and keep the Corniche for sunset. On days off, try the public beaches. The guides are ready: Al Balad, the Corniche, public beaches and free places in Jeddah.
Before you pay a riyal
Buy tickets only through the official channels the season's page points to, and nowhere else. A link that landed on WhatsApp, or an account selling cheaper tickets, is a reason to walk away. Check the date, time, place and refund policy before paying, and keep the ticket saved on your phone. The common mistake is buying from the first link a search throws up before checking it comes from the official page.
The ride can cost more than the ticket
Distances in Jeddah are long. From the university area to the event zones at peak time, a ride can cost more than the ticket itself. Agree on one car with your friends and split it, and know your way back before you go. The options are in getting around Jeddah. Set one amount for the whole outing and eat somewhere with a student discount; ideas are in cheap restaurants in Jeddah and a weekend plan in Jeddah.
Season jobs and your lectures
The season opens part-time work for students, but read the contract before you sign. The Labour Law3 sets the normal limit at 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week, and anything beyond that counts as overtime. Ask for the shift pattern first, and turn down hours that collide with your exams. Late nights at events have a price too: the 8 am lecture. Keep the big outings for weekends or for after exams, and if you need a quiet place to study, see study spots in Jeddah and exam season.
