Which calendar?
Dates convert on the Umm al-Qura calendar, the official Hijri calendar of Saudi Arabia used by government bodies and universities. A Hijri month has 29 or 30 days, and the calendar sets each month's length in advance.
- A Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than a Gregorian one, which is why Ramadan comes earlier every year.
- Ramadan, Shawwal and Dhu al-Hijjah officially start with the moon sighting, so the first day can differ by one from the calendar.
- The converter covers 1343 AH to 1500 AH.
