By the tiswa editorial team, from the official sources listed at the end of this guide. How we write our guides
Nine months is the longest a Tuwaiq Academy bootcamp runs, and one week is its shortest programme.1 Your first decision sits between those two numbers. A third-year student cannot leave lectures for nine months, and a graduate hunting for a job will get little from a one-week course. Below: the difference, who gets in, how an application moves from registered to joined, and what sinks applications.
Tuwaiq Academy bootcamp or programme: what is the difference?
A bootcamp is longer and deeper and ends in hiring for its top graduates. A programme is short and built around one skill. From the academy's home page:1
| Bootcamp | Programme | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | One to nine months | One to three weeks |
| Format | Intensive, hands-on | Focused on one skill |
| Certificate | Professional certificate | Professional certificate |
| After | Hiring for top graduates | Apply for another bootcamp or programme |

The FAQ adds that training runs in person or remotely, in Arabic or English depending on the field, with special tracks such as the Holberton School foundation track in software engineering.2 Each announcement states the city and language, so read it rather than guess.
Who can apply to Tuwaiq Academy?
Tech bootcamps and programmes are for people aged 18 and over, and school students aged 14 to 17 have separate programmes.2 You do not need a tech degree. The groups the academy names, and the checks to do first:
- Diploma graduates, university students, graduates and employees.2
- If you are still at university, choose Bachelor as your level and add your study start and end dates.
- Each bootcamp lists its own conditions in its form; some require Saudi nationality or a theory test and interview.
- The drone bootcamp with the Ministry of Defence takes men aged 18 to 35.5
Recent graduates also have bootcamps run jointly with Misk Skills, which end in hiring for the top performers too.6
How do I register at Tuwaiq Academy?
You create a personal account on tuwaiq.edu.sa, then apply from the bootcamp's page while it shows "registration open". In order:
- Pick a field
Unsure? Take the tech interest assessment at assessment.tuwaiq.edu.sa first.4
- Complete your profile
Add your education, certificates and experience. Admissions reviewers read this profile.
- Watch the announcements
Bootcamps are announced on the academy's official accounts, and registration closes once seats fill.2
- Check the form
Read every field before you submit. The form cannot be edited afterwards.2
- Submit and watch your inbox
Test and interview links arrive by email when a bootcamp uses them, then final acceptance well before the start.

What does each Tuwaiq application status mean?
The FAQ gives each status a precise meaning, and students mix up two of them:2
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Registered | Your application arrived; nobody has assessed it yet |
| Candidate | You qualify for the test and interview |
| Joined | You are officially accepted |
| Auto-excluded | Seats filled before your application was reached |
Candidate is not acceptance. And auto-excluded says nothing about your level. It is about timing.
Why do Tuwaiq applications get rejected?
The academy names three reasons: not meeting the conditions on the registration page, failing the test or interview, or seats filling up.2 Fix the first by reading the conditions before you click apply, the second by preparing, and the third by turning on notifications for the academy's accounts and applying on day one. One more rule catches many people: you cannot register for two bootcamps in the same period, so wait until the first one's admission ends before you apply to the next.2
Does Satr give a certificate?
It gives a badge on your profile when you finish a course, not a professional certificate like the bootcamps.3 Satr belongs to Tuwaiq Academy, all of its content is free, it starts from zero with no experience needed, and there is no deadline to finish.3 Completing Satr courses does not guarantee a bootcamp seat, though the academy nominates standout learners.3 The tracks are covered in the Satr platform guide, and if you are starting cold, read learn programming from zero first.
I want to apply for the [bootcamp name] bootcamp at Tuwaiq Academy. These are the admission conditions from the registration page: [paste conditions]. My current level: [what you know]. I have [number] hours a week. Build me a four-week prep plan with one skill and one small project per week, and suggest topics to look up on Satr. Do not add conditions beyond the ones I pasted.
Do Tuwaiq Academy bootcamps lead to jobs?
For the top graduates, yes; not for everyone who enrols.1 The Tuwaiq employment programme places graduates in government, private and non-profit organisations.2 A clear example of a sector bootcamp is the drone bootcamp with the Ministry of Defence: free, four weeks, in person in Riyadh, and ending in defence-sector jobs for those who meet its requirements.5 Its conditions are in the Tuwaiq drone bootcamp guide.
Attendance and the certificate: what costs you it?
Missing two days or more without an excuse submitted to the relevant office costs you the certificate under the registration contract.2 The certificate is issued in your profile after the bootcamp ends, once you pass its requirements. If a university final falls inside the bootcamp dates, submit the excuse days before, not after.
Does Tuwaiq Academy provide housing?
No. It says its students get discounts at a number of hotels and apartments, so ask once you are accepted.2 If you will commute across Riyadh every day, price that too with Riyadh Metro student fares.
Which Tuwaiq bootcamp suits a university student?
Start from your university calendar, not the bootcamp list. Write down your midterm and final dates, then lay them next to the bootcamp dates in its announcement. If an exam week overlaps the attendance days, you have two options: an excuse submitted in advance, or a different bootcamp at a different time. Two unexcused days are enough to lose the certificate, so there is no third option.
Then match it to your major. An information systems student gets more from a data analysis bootcamp than from cybersecurity, even if cybersecurity sounds bigger, because the final project becomes part of a portfolio in their own field. If nothing is close to your major, a short programme in a general skill such as Python or Power BI beats a long bootcamp in a field you are not sure you like. For a wider map first, read the cybersecurity roadmap or the data analysis roadmap.
Mistakes that weaken a Tuwaiq application
- Picking a bootcamp outside your field because it was the only one open.
- Rushing the form, then spotting a wrong graduation year you cannot fix.
- Walking into the theory test cold. It is one of the three rejection reasons.
- Applying on the last day, after the seats have gone.
- Assuming one bootcamp's rules apply to another; the defence bootcamp has an upper age limit of 35.
Sort out your machine before day one. Coding bootcamps need a laptop that can run development tools, so see the best laptop for students, and activate the GitHub Student Developer Pack for free developer tools, JetBrains licences included.
