Who qualifies for KFU housing?
Housing goes to whoever meets the conditions KFU publishes, and it is open to the university's male and female students who come from outside Al-Ahsa governorate1:
- a King Faisal University student from outside Al-Ahsa governorate
- allocation depends on vacant beds
The published fees are for students; the default is a furnished shared room for two or three students, and a single room is granted only when one is available1.
How much does KFU housing cost?
KFU publishes its housing fees per semester by category1. The figures are in riyals for one semester:
| Student housing in Al-Ahsa | Per semester |
|---|---|
| Shared room: two or three students in a furnished room | SR 1,125 |
| Single room, when available | SR 1,575 |
The deposit is SR 500: refunded to the student after leaving the housing1.
- the rent is subject to change as the university sees fit
- the deposit is paid with the first semester's fee and refunded after leaving the housing, so a student who stays two semesters does not pay it twice
The fee is per semester, so two semesters mean paying it twice, while the deposit is paid once and comes back at the end if the room is handed over intact. The gap between the categories in the table is the gap between a shared and a single room, or between a student and an employee, so pick the category that applies to you before you add it up.
How do I apply for KFU housing?
The request goes through the student housing administration of the Deanship of Student Affairs from the student housing page1, and the conditions above apply. Residence runs for one semester, so a student who wants to stay for the next one renews and pays within the renewal period1.
Once you move in: student prices for KFU students
Furnishing the room, devices and subscriptions are the biggest costs after rent. A KFU student verifies in tiswa with their university email and opens student prices, and every deal is on the KFU student page. For a search outside the university, the student housing search guide explains documenting a lease on Ejar and checking a broker.
